Affine space
Definition
Let be a field and let be a vector space over . An affine space over is a nonempty set with a map , written , that has these properties. For each point of : . For each point of and all vectors and of : . For all points and of , there is exactly one vector of with . This vector is written or . The elements of are the points, and is the space of translations of . The dimension of is the dimension of .
Remarks
Each vector space is an affine space over itself, with the addition of as the action. In particular is an affine space over .
For all points , and , Chasles's relation holds: .
Mathlib calls this structure an additive torsor, AddTorsor. Its definition works for an additive group in place of a vector space.
A Euclidean space is a real affine space of finite dimension whose space of translations has an inner product.

In an affine space you can subtract two points to get the arrow from one to the other. You can also add an arrow to a point. But you cannot add two points: there is no special origin. A good picture is the plane without its coordinate axes.
