Capacitance
Summary
Capacitance measures how much electric charge a conductor holds per unit of electric potential. For an isolated conductor it is the ratio of its charge to its potential. For a capacitor it is the charge on one plate divided by the voltage between the plates. It depends only on the shape and position of the conductors and on the medium around them. In potential theory it corresponds to the Newtonian capacity of a set.
