Composition of an integer

Definition

Let nn be a natural number. A composition of nn is a finite sequence (a1,…,ak)(a_1, \dots, a_k) of positive integers with a1+⋯+ak=na_1 + \dots + a_k = n. The number kk is the number of parts of the composition.

Remarks

Unlike a partition, a composition records the order of its parts. The compositions of 33 are (3)(3), (2,1)(2, 1), (1,2)(1, 2) and (1,1,1)(1, 1, 1). The number 00 has exactly one composition, the empty sequence.

Explanations

L1 human

A composition of nn writes nn as an ordered sum of positive integers. So 2+12 + 1 and 1+21 + 2 are two different compositions of 33.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What depends on this

1 node uses this node, directly or through other nodes.
