Conway polynomial
Summary
A Conway polynomial is a fixed choice of primitive polynomial of degree over . The choices for different are compatible, so the fields built from them fit together as subfields. Computer algebra systems use Conway polynomials as a standard model of finite fields, so that results from different programs agree.
