Covariance matrix
Definition
Let be a random vector in with for each , and let be its mean vector. The covariance matrix of is the matrix with entries In matrix form, .
Remarks
The diagonal entries are the variances . is symmetric and positive semidefinite: for each . For a real matrix and , . The covariance matrix and the mean vector are the two parameters of the multivariate normal distribution.
Explanations
L1 human
For a random vector, one number is not enough to describe the spread. The covariance matrix collects the variance of each component and the covariance of each pair in one table.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
