Ecliptic coordinate system
Summary
The ecliptic coordinate system is the celestial coordinate system built on the ecliptic, the apparent yearly path of the Sun on the sky. Its coordinates are ecliptic latitude and ecliptic longitude, counted from the March equinox. It suits the study of the Sun, the Moon and the planets, whose orbits lie close to the ecliptic plane.
