Galaxy two-point correlation function
Summary
The galaxy two-point correlation function measures the excess probability, over a random distribution, of finding two galaxies at separation . It is the simplest statistic of galaxy clustering and the spatial analogue of an autocorrelation function. Its Fourier transform is the galaxy power spectrum, and on scales of a few megaparsecs it is close to a power law.
