Geometrothermodynamics
Summary
Geometrothermodynamics is a geometric formalism for equilibrium thermodynamics proposed by Hernando Quevedo. It adds to the contact geometry of thermodynamics a metric on the thermodynamic phase space that is invariant under Legendre transformations. The metric induces a metric on the equilibrium manifold of each system, so the result does not depend on which thermodynamic potential is used. Its curvature is interpreted as a measure of thermodynamic interaction, and curvature singularities are compared with phase transitions.
