Relativity and gravitational theory Alternative theories of gravity Concept
Hořava–Lifshitz gravity
Summary
Hořava–Lifshitz gravity is a theory of gravity proposed by Petr Hořava in 2009. It gives up full Lorentz invariance at very short distances and treats time and space differently, with an anisotropic scaling of time against space. The extra spatial derivatives in its action improve its short-distance behaviour, so that it is power-counting renormalizable in dimensions. At long distances it is meant to approach general relativity, and it is one of the alternatives to general relativity.
