Lax pair

Summary

A Lax pair is a pair of operators L(t)L(t) and P(t)P(t) such that an evolution equation is equivalent to dLdt=[P,L]=PL−LP\frac{dL}{dt} = [P, L] = PL - LP. Then L(t)L(t) stays similar to L(0)L(0), so its spectrum does not change in time. The eigenvalues of LL are thus conserved quantities. Lax pairs are the starting point of the inverse scattering transform and a sign that an equation is integrable.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
