Lefschetz number

Summary

Let ff be a self-map of a finite CW complex or compact polyhedron. Its Lefschetz number is the alternating sum of the traces of the maps that ff induces on rational homology. It depends only on the homotopy class of ff, and for the identity map it is the Euler characteristic. The Lefschetz fixed-point theorem says that if it is not zero, then ff has a fixed point.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
