Minimal surface equation

Summary

The minimal surface equation for a function uu of nn variables says that its graph is a minimal surface. That is, the graph has zero mean curvature. It reads div⁡(∇u/1+∣∇u∣2)=0\operatorname{div}\big(\nabla u / \sqrt{1 + \abs{\nabla u}^2}\big) = 0. It is the Euler–Lagrange equation of the area of the graph, ∫1+∣∇u∣2 dx\int \sqrt{1 + \abs{\nabla u}^2} \, dx. It is a model quasilinear elliptic equation, and its study led to Bernstein's problem and to deep results on regularity.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
