Theorem

Muchnik's Theorem

Statement

R⊆ℕdR\subseteq\mathbb{N}^d is Presburger-definable if and only if:

if d>1d > 1 then all sections of RR are Presburger-definable and

there exists s∈ℕs\in\mathbb{N} such that, for every k∈ℕk\in\mathbb{N}, there exists t∈ℕt\in\mathbb{N} such that for all (x0,…,xd−1)∈ℕd(x_0,\dots,x_{d-1})\in\mathbb{N}^d with

∑i=0d−1xi>t,\sum_{i=0}^{d-1}x_i>t,

RR is ss-periodic in C(k,(x0,…,xd−1))C(k,(x_0,\dots,x_{d-1})).
