Mueller calculus
Summary
Mueller calculus is a matrix method for tracing the polarization of light through optical elements. Light is described by its Stokes vector, and each element by a real matrix, its Mueller matrix. A chain of elements acts by the product of their matrices. Unlike Jones calculus, it handles partially polarized light and elements that depolarize.
