Relativity and gravitational theory Special relativity: kinematics Concept
Principle of relativity
Summary
The principle of relativity requires that the laws of physics have the same form in every inertial frame of reference. It turns a physical idea into a symmetry requirement: the equations of a theory must be invariant under a group of changes of frame. With the Galilean group it gives Newtonian mechanics; with the Lorentz group it gives special relativity.
