Propagator
Summary
A propagator is a Green's function of the wave operator of a free field, chosen with boundary conditions that fit quantum theory. For the Feynman propagator, it equals the vacuum expectation value of the time-ordered product of two free fields. Propagators are the lines of Feynman diagrams: every term of perturbation theory is built from them. In Euclidean form, the propagator is the covariance of the Gaussian free field.
