Geophysics Seismology: waves and rays Concept
Seismology
Summary
Seismology is the science of earthquakes and of the elastic waves that travel through the Earth. Its mathematical core is the theory of waves in linearly elastic media. Inverse problems then recover the sources and the interior from recorded ground motion. Almost everything known about the deep interior of the Earth, such as the liquid outer core and the solid inner core, comes from seismology.
