Sims conjecture

Statement

In mathematics, the Sims conjecture is a result in group theory, originally proposed by Charles Sims. He conjectured that if GG is a primitive permutation group on a finite set SS and GαG_\alpha denotes the stabilizer of the point α\alpha in SS, then there exists an integer-valued function ff such that f(d)≥∣Gα∣f(d) \geq |G_\alpha| for dd the length of any orbit of GαG_\alpha in the set S∖{α}S \setminus \{\alpha\}.
