Theorem

Supersaturation Theorem

Statement

Consider an hh-uniform hypergraph HH with v(H)v(H) vertices. The supersaturation theorem states that for every ϵ>0\epsilon > 0, there exists a δ>0\delta > 0 such that if GG is an hh-uniform hypergraph on nn vertices and at least (π(H)+ϵ)(nh)(\pi(H) + \epsilon) \binom{n}{h} edges for nn sufficiently large, then there are at least δnv(H)\delta n^{v(H)} copies of HH.

Equivalently, we can restate this theorem as the following: If a graph GG with nn vertices has o(nv(H))o(n^{v(H)}) copies of HH, then there are at most π(H)(n2)+o(n2)\pi(H) \binom{n}{2} + o(n^2) edges in GG.
