Abundant number

Definition

A positive integer nn is abundant if the sum of its positive divisors other than nn is greater than nn. Equivalently, σ(n)>2n\sigma(n) > 2n, where σ\sigma is the sum of divisors.

Remarks

The smallest abundant number is 1212, since 1+2+3+4+6=16>121 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 = 16 > 12. The smallest odd abundant number is 945945. Each multiple knkn with k≥2k \ge 2 of a perfect number nn is abundant.

Explanations

L1 human

An abundant number has "too many" divisors: its smaller divisors add up to more than the number. Compare with perfect numbers, where the sum is equal, and deficient numbers, where it is smaller.

What this node needs for W2
  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 6 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
