Adjacency matrix

Definition

Let GG be a finite graph with vertex set {v1,…,vn}\{v_1, \dots, v_n\}. The adjacency matrix of GG is the n×nn \times n matrix A=(aij)A = (a_{ij}) with aij={1if vi∼vj,0otherwise.a_{ij} = \begin{cases} 1 & \text{if } v_i \sim v_j, \\ 0 & \text{otherwise.} \end{cases}

Remarks

The matrix AA is symmetric and has zeros on the diagonal. The sum of row ii is the degree of viv_i. The entry (Ak)ij(A^k)_{ij} is the number of walks of length kk from viv_i to vjv_j. Another order of the vertices gives the matrix PTAPP^{T} A P for a permutation matrix PP.

Explanations

L1 human

The adjacency matrix is a table of zeros and ones. A 11 in row ii and column jj means that vertices ii and jj are joined. For a triangle, every entry off the diagonal is 11.

What this node needs for W2
  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 2 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
  • no evidence level
