Almost convergence
Definition
Let be a bounded sequence of real numbers and let be a real number. The sequence is almost convergent to if for every Banach limit .
Remarks
Example: every convergent sequence with limit is almost convergent to , because every Banach limit agrees with the ordinary limit on convergent sequences.
Example: is almost convergent to . Let be the shift and . Then , so for every Banach limit one has . Since , this gives .
Non-example: let if for some integer , and otherwise. This sequence has longer and longer blocks of ones and of zeros, and different Banach limits give it different values. This follows from Lorentz's characterization, since averages over long blocks of consecutive terms can be or .
The limit is unique when it exists, because Banach limits exist.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
