Mechanics of deformable solids Plasticity Concept
Associated flow rule
Summary
The associated flow rule is the rule of flow plasticity theory that the plastic strain rate points along the outward normal of the yield surface. Equivalently, the plastic potential equals the yield function. It is also called the normality rule, and it follows from Drucker's stability postulate and from the principle of maximum plastic dissipation. It is the standard rule for metals.
