Bang–bang control
Builds on Control systemConvex setCompact set
Definition
Let be a control system whose control set is a compact convex set, for example a box with . An admissible control is bang–bang if is an extreme point of for almost every . For a box, this means for each and almost every . The times at which jumps between extreme points are its switching times.
Remarks
Example: for , the control on and on is bang–bang, with one switching time . For the double integrator , starting at rest at , it brings the state to rest at at time , and this is the minimum time with . Non-example: on with is not bang–bang, since except at . Consider a linear system whose control set is a compact convex polytope. The bang–bang principle says that every state reachable at time is also reachable at time by a bang–bang control.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
