Definition

Let kk be a field and let QQ be a finite quiver. A vertex ii is a sink if no arrow has source ii, and a source if no arrow has target ii. Let σiQ\sigma_i Q be the quiver obtained from QQ by reversing every arrow incident to ii; write a∗a^* for the reverse of aa. Let ii be a sink of QQ and VV a representation of QQ over kk. The representation Si+VS_i^+ V of σiQ\sigma_i Q is defined by:

  1. (Si+V)j=Vj(S_i^+ V)_j = V_j and (Si+V)b=Vb(S_i^+ V)_b = V_b for vertices j≠ij \ne i and arrows bb not incident to ii;
  2. (Si+V)i=ker⁡(⨁a ⁣:j→iVj→(Va)Vi)(S_i^+ V)_i = \ker \big( \bigoplus_{a \colon j \to i} V_j \xrightarrow{(V_a)} V_i \big), the sum taken over the arrows aa ending at ii;
  3. for an arrow a ⁣:j→ia \colon j \to i, the map (Si+V)a∗ ⁣:(Si+V)i→Vj(S_i^+ V)_{a^*} \colon (S_i^+ V)_i \to V_j is the inclusion of the kernel followed by the projection onto the summand VjV_j of index aa.

With the evident action on morphisms, Si+S_i^+ is a functor. Dually, for a source ii, Si−S_i^- replaces ViV_i by the cokernel of Vi→⨁a ⁣:i→jVjV_i \to \bigoplus_{a \colon i \to j} V_j.

Remarks

Let SiS_i be the simple representation at ii. If VV is indecomposable and V≇SiV \not\cong S_i, then Si+VS_i^+ V is indecomposable, Si−Si+V≅VS_i^- S_i^+ V \cong V, and the dimension vector changes by dim⁡(Si+V)i=∑a ⁣:j→idim⁡Vj−dim⁡Vi\dim (S_i^+ V)_i = \sum_{a \colon j \to i} \dim V_j - \dim V_i. Also Si+Si=0S_i^+ S_i = 0. Example: for Q=(1→a2)Q = (1 \xrightarrow{a} 2), the vertex 22 is a sink. For V=(k→id⁡k)V = (k \xrightarrow{\id} k), the kernel of id⁡ ⁣:k→k\id \colon k \to k is 00, so S2+VS_2^+ V is the representation k←0k \leftarrow 0 of 1←21 \leftarrow 2. Its dimension vector (1,0)(1, 0) is the image of (1,1)(1, 1) under the reflection x2↦x1−x2x_2 \mapsto x_1 - x_2. Non-example: S1+S_1^+ is not defined on QQ, because vertex 11 is not a sink.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
