Boolean matrix
Definition
Let be integers. A Boolean matrix of size is an matrix with every entry . Let be a Boolean matrix of size and one of size . Their Boolean product is the Boolean matrix with entries that is, exactly when there is some with .
Remarks
Equivalently, the entries are computed in the Boolean semiring with . For finite sets and , a relation has the Boolean matrix with exactly when . If has matrix , then the composite relation "first , then " has matrix . Example: for , , since the entry is and the entry is ; the ordinary product would give the entry at . Non-example: is not a Boolean matrix, because the entry is not in .
