Bouguer anomaly

Summary

The Bouguer anomaly is the free-air anomaly with the attraction of the rock between the station and sea level removed. The rock is modelled as an infinite horizontal slab of constant density. Removing the visible topography makes the anomaly show density contrasts below sea level. It is the standard anomaly in exploration geophysics and in studies of isostasy.
