Definition
Let be an alphabet and let be the set of infinite words with all . A (nondeterministic) Büchi automaton is a tuple where:
- is a finite set of states;
- is the transition function, with values in the power set of ;
- is the initial state;
- is the set of accepting states.
A run of on is a sequence of states with and for all . The run is accepting when for infinitely many . The automaton accepts when some run of on is accepting. Its language is the set of the infinite words it accepts. is deterministic when every set has exactly one element.
Remarks
The data of a Büchi automaton are those of an NFA; only the input and the acceptance condition change. Example: over , take , , , and for both states . Its unique run on is in exactly after each , so it accepts the words with infinitely many 's. Non-example: the word is not accepted, since its run visits only once. The language of words with finitely many 's is accepted by a nondeterministic Büchi automaton that guesses when the last has been read, but by no deterministic one.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
