Calabi flow
Builds on Hermitian manifoldScalar curvature
Definition
Let be a compact complex manifold of complex dimension with a Kähler form . This is the form of a Hermitian metric with . For a smooth real function on with , let be the scalar curvature of the Kähler metric . Let be the average of with respect to the volume form ; it depends only on the Kähler class of . A smooth family of such functions is a solution of the Calabi flow if
Remarks
Example: if has constant scalar curvature, such as a Kähler–Einstein metric or a flat metric on a complex torus, then , and the constant family solves the flow. Non-example: a family leaves the Kähler class of , so it is not of the form and is not a Calabi flow. In local coordinates the flow reads for the metric coefficients . Along the flow the Calabi energy does not increase.
