Camassa–Holm equation
Summary
The Camassa–Holm equation is a nonlinear partial differential equation for shallow water waves moving in one direction. Like the Korteweg–de Vries equation it is an integrable system, with a Lax pair and infinitely many conservation laws. Unlike KdV it has solitary waves with a corner at the crest, called peakons. Its smooth solutions can also break in finite time, as real waves do. It was derived by Roberto Camassa and Darryl Holm in 1993.
