Causality conditions
Summary
Causality conditions are global conditions on a time-oriented Lorentzian manifold that rule out various kinds of causal pathology, such as closed timelike curves. They form a hierarchy, from the chronology condition up to global hyperbolicity, each one implying the weaker ones. They are stated in terms of the causal structure and are hypotheses of most global theorems of general relativity.
