CCR algebra

Summary

The CCR algebra of a symplectic vector space (V,σ)(V, \sigma) is a C*-algebra generated by unitary elements W(v)W(v), v∈Vv \in V. These satisfy the Weyl form of the canonical commutation relations. It is the algebra of observables of a bosonic system with phase space VV, such as a free quantum field. The Weyl form uses bounded unitaries instead of the unbounded position and momentum operators, so that C*-algebra methods apply. For finite-dimensional VV the Stone–von Neumann theorem says that its regular irreducible representations are all equivalent, while for infinite-dimensional VV there are many inequivalent ones.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
