Classical electromagnetism
Summary
Classical electromagnetism is the theory of electric and magnetic fields and their interaction with charged matter, without quantum effects. Its laws are Maxwell's equations, which say how charges and currents produce the fields. They are completed by the Lorentz force law, which says how the fields act on charges. It explains electrostatics, magnetism, circuits, optics and radio waves in one framework. It is a relativistic field theory, and its study led to special relativity.
