Composite number

Definition

A composite number is a natural number nn such that n>1n > 1 and nn is not a prime number.

Remarks

Equivalently, nn is composite when n=abn = a b for some natural numbers aa and bb with 1<a<n1 < a < n and 1<b<n1 < b < n. The first composite numbers are 4,6,8,9,10,124, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12. The number 11 is neither prime nor composite.

Explanations

L1 human

A composite number is a number that you can write as a product of two smaller numbers, each greater than 11. For example, 15=3⋅515 = 3 \cdot 5 is composite. You can arrange a composite number of dots as a rectangle with at least two rows and at least two columns.

What this node needs for W2
  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 3 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.

What depends on this

3 nodes use this node, directly or through other nodes.
