Crown
Builds on Linear extensionComparability graph
Example
Let . The crown is the partially ordered set on elements whose only strict relations are for all . It is also called the standard example of dimension , because its order dimension is . Some authors use the name crown for a different poset of height , whose comparability graph is a cycle of length .
Lower bound. For each , the elements and are incomparable, so a realizer needs a linear extension with before . Suppose one linear extension has before and before with . Since and , would contain the cycle , which is impossible. So each linear extension reverses at most one pair, and at least linear extensions are needed.
Upper bound. For each , let be the following order. First come the with , in increasing order of , then , then . Last come the with , in increasing order of . Each is a linear extension, and every incomparable pair appears in both relative orders among , so these orders form a realizer.
Remarks
The comparability graph of is the crown graph: the complete bipartite graph with a perfect matching removed. The crown has height and width , so it shows that the dimension of a poset of height can be as large as one likes.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
