Definition
Let be an open set and let . Let be the real vector space of smooth differential -forms on with compact support in . A sequence in converges to if two conditions hold.
- There is a compact set that contains the support of every .
- Every partial derivative of every coefficient of converges to uniformly on .
An -dimensional current on is a linear map such that whenever in this sense. The boundary of an -current with is the -current given by .
Remarks
Example: let be a compact oriented -dimensional submanifold, possibly with boundary. Then is linear in . It is continuous, since . So is an -current, and Stokes' theorem gives . Non-example: the map is continuous but not linear, so it is not a current. The -currents on are the distributions on . The mass of is the supremum of over the forms with for all , for a suitable norm on -covectors.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
