Definition
Let be a variety of algebras and let . Day terms for are quaternary terms such that satisfies the following identities:
- and .
- for every .
- for every even .
- for every odd .
Remarks
Day's theorem says that is a congruence-modular variety if and only if has Day terms for some . Example: if is a Mal'cev term for , then , , are Day terms. The checks are , , and . For groups this gives . Non-example: with , the terms and are not Day terms in any nontrivial variety. Clause 3 for reads , which holds only in one-element algebras.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
