Definable set
Builds on StructureWell-formed formula
Definition
Let be a signature, let be an -structure with domain , and let . A set is definable with parameters from when there are an -formula and such that The set is definable when it is definable with parameters from . It is definable without parameters, or -definable, when it is definable with parameters from .
Remarks
Example: in the field , the set is definable without parameters by . Indeed a real number is a square of a real number exactly when it is nonnegative.
Non-example: in , the set is not definable without parameters. The map is an automorphism of , and an automorphism maps each -definable set onto itself; but . With the parameter , the formula defines .
The definable subsets of are closed under finite unions, finite intersections and complements, and projections of definable sets are definable.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
