statement theorem

Derivative of sine

Statement

The sine function is differentiable on R\mathbb{R}, and sin⁡′(x)=cos⁡x\sin'(x) = \cos x for all real xx.

Remarks

Differentiate the power series term by term. The derivative of (−1)nx2n+1(2n+1)!\frac{(-1)^n x^{2n+1}}{(2n+1)!} is (−1)nx2n(2n)!\frac{(-1)^n x^{2n}}{(2n)!}, the term of the cosine series. With the addition formula, the claim reduces to the limits sin⁡hh→1\frac{\sin h}{h} \to 1 and cos⁡h−1h→0\frac{\cos h - 1}{h} \to 0. Mathlib states it as Real.hasDerivAt_sin.

Explanations

L1 human

The slope of the sine curve at xx is cos⁡x\cos x. At x=0x = 0 the sine curve rises with slope 11, and at x=π/2x = \pi/2 it is flat.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
