Dirichlet eigenvalue
Summary
A Dirichlet eigenvalue of a bounded domain is a number such that has a nonzero solution vanishing on the boundary. These numbers form an increasing sequence of positive numbers that tends to infinity. They are the squared frequencies of a vibrating membrane fixed along its edge. They also control the decay of heat in with zero boundary temperature. How they depend on the shape of is the subject of spectral geometry, with results such as the Faber–Krahn inequality.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
