Definition
Let be a set. A Dynkin system on is a family of subsets of such that:
- .
- If and , then .
- If is an increasing sequence of members of , then the union is in .
Remarks
On , the family of subsets with an even number of elements is a Dynkin system. Clause 1 holds since has elements. Clause 2 holds since has elements when . Clause 3 holds since an increasing sequence in a finite family is eventually constant. On , the family is not a Dynkin system, since clause 2 fails: is missing. An equivalent definition: , is closed under complements, and is closed under countable unions of pairwise disjoint members. Every ฯ-algebra is a Dynkin system. A Dynkin system that is also a ฯ-system is a ฯ-algebra. Dynkin systems are also called ฮป-systems.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
