Definition
Let be a prime and let be a finite -group. Let be the centre of . The group is extraspecial when:
- has order ;
- the quotient group is a nontrivial elementary abelian -group.
Remarks
In an extraspecial group, the centre, the commutator subgroup and the Frattini subgroup coincide. The order of an extraspecial group is for some , and for each and there are exactly two extraspecial groups of that order up to isomorphism. Example: the quaternion group is extraspecial with . Its centre is , of order , and has order with every element of order at most , so it is the Klein four-group, which is elementary abelian. Non-example: the cyclic group is not extraspecial, because its centre is the whole group, of order , so clause 1 fails.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
