Finite-state transducer
Definition
A finite-state transducer is a tuple where:
- is a finite set of states;
- and are alphabets, the input and output alphabets;
- is the set of initial states and is the set of final states;
- is a finite set of transitions, where is the empty string.
A pair is accepted by when there is a path of transitions in with , , and . The relation of is the set of accepted pairs.
Remarks
Example: with , , , and , the paths from to go around the loop times, so the relation is . Non-example: a device with one transition for every fails clause 4, since must be finite and its labels must be single symbols or . The relation is still the relation of a finite-state transducer, for example with , and . Forgetting the output labels gives an NFA with -moves for the input projection of the relation. Some authors allow whole words as transition labels; this gives the same relations.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
