Definition

Let AA be a nonassociative algebra over a commutative ring RR. AA is flexible if (xy)x=x(yx)for all x,y∈A.(xy)x = x(yx) \quad \text{for all } x, y \in A.

Remarks

In terms of the associator, the condition is (x,y,x)=0(x, y, x) = 0 for all x,yx, y. Example: every commutative algebra is flexible. Indeed (xy)x=x(xy)(xy)x = x(xy) by commutativity applied to xyxy and xx, and x(yx)=x(xy)x(yx) = x(xy) by commutativity applied to yy and xx. Non-example: let AA have basis e,fe, f over a field, with ee=fee = f, ef=eef = e and fe=ff=0fe = ff = 0. Then (ee)e=fe=0(ee)e = fe = 0, while e(ee)=ef=ee(ee) = ef = e, so the condition fails for x=y=ex = y = e.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
