Free spectrum of a variety

Summary

The free spectrum of a variety 𝒱\mathcal{V} is a function on the natural numbers. It sends nn to the number of elements of the free algebra of 𝒱\mathcal{V} on nn generators. It is finite for all nn exactly when 𝒱\mathcal{V} is locally finite. Its growth rate measures how much freedom the identities of 𝒱\mathcal{V} leave, and it is used to separate and classify locally finite varieties.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
