Generalized Boolean algebra
Builds on Distributive latticeBoolean algebra
Definition
Let be a distributive lattice with meet , join and a least element . The lattice is a generalized Boolean algebra if for all there is an element such that The element is unique by distributivity. It is the relative complement of in , written .
Remarks
Example: the finite subsets of , ordered by inclusion, form a generalized Boolean algebra. For finite sets and , the set is finite, , and . This lattice has no greatest element, so it is not a Boolean algebra. Non-example: the chain is a distributive lattice with least element , but for and there is no with and . Indeed forces , and then . Equivalently, a distributive lattice with is a generalized Boolean algebra if and only if each interval is a Boolean algebra. A generalized Boolean algebra with a greatest element is the same as a Boolean algebra.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
