Gibbs entropy

Summary

The Gibbs entropy of a statistical ensemble with probabilities pip_i is S=−kB∑ipiln⁡piS = -k_B \sum_i p_i \ln p_i, where kBk_B is the Boltzmann constant. It measures how spread out the distribution over microstates is. For the uniform distribution on WW microstates it equals kBln⁡Wk_B \ln W, which is Boltzmann's entropy formula. Up to the factor kBk_B and the base of the logarithm, it is the Shannon entropy of information theory.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
