Hecke algebra of a locally compact group

Summary

Let KK be a compact open subgroup of a locally compact group GG. The Hecke algebra of (G,K)(G, K) is the algebra of compactly supported KK-bi-invariant functions on GG under convolution. It has a basis given by the indicator functions of the double cosets KgKK g K. The KK-fixed vectors of a smooth representation of GG form a module over it. This makes it a main tool for representations of pp-adic groups. For G=GLn(ℚp)G = \mathrm{GL}_n(\Q_p) and K=GLn(ℤp)K = \mathrm{GL}_n(\Z_p) it is commutative, and it is closely related to the Hecke operators on modular forms.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
