Integral quadratic form

Definition
Let be an integer. An integral quadratic form in variables is a quadratic form whose coefficients all lie in the integers. Two integral quadratic forms and in variables are equivalent if for some integer matrix with .
Remarks
Every integral quadratic form takes integer values at integer points. The form can be written with a symmetric integer matrix whose diagonal entries are even. Some authors call integral only when for a symmetric integer matrix . This means that all cross coefficients with are even; such forms are called classically integral.
Example: is integral, with ; it is not classically integral, because the coefficient of is odd.
Non-example: is a quadratic form over but not integral, since the coefficient of is not an integer; its value at is .
