Irreducible matrix
Definition
Let , let be a field, and let be an matrix over . The matrix is reducible if some permutation matrix gives where and are square matrices of size at least . The matrix is irreducible if it is not reducible.
Remarks
Let be the directed graph with vertices and an edge from to whenever . Then is irreducible if and only if is strongly connected. For a real nonnegative matrix , this is also equivalent to having all entries positive. Example: is irreducible, because its graph has the edges and . Non-example: is reducible with , since it is already block upper triangular with blocks. Conventions for matrices differ between authors.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
